and application in Australia. Briggs and Fay (2022) found that the typed notes and many of the plates in this portfolio are derived from a small number of sources, comprising Henry Barrett Carpenter's "Suggestions for the Study of Colour" (1919, 1923) and several texts relating to the Ostwald and Munsell systems, including Maitland Graves' "The Art of Color and Design" (1941). Fay's student notes from the Shillito Design School in 1976-77 show that text more or less verbatim from Carpenter's book continued to form a large part of the lecture content of Shillito's colour curriculum through to the end of her career.
